My second Saturday in lockdown
Before the world went crazy and life changed for all of us, my Saturdays were about a long training session then getting out doing jobs, shopping and exploring Hong Kong (or Singapore for the last 5 months).
With my new, positive attitude to life in lockdown, I’m starting my days the same way.
The first part of my gym upgrade has arrived and been installed. My step bench is a great addition to the gym (term used loosely).
I wasn’t feeling very energetic when I woke up but I knew a hard training session would make me feel great. And it did.
I’ve become aware of how the small things make a big difference when life is stripped back and the noise of everyday life is removed. I’m more conscious of how I’m feeling and much more focussed on everything that I’m doing. For someone who isn’t very herbal or happy clappy, it feels weird to say, but feeling I’m much more centred and grounded. Let’s hope I can keep this feeling when I’m allowed out into the world.
My stay at home app is sending me a new message. For the first week the check in message asked me to take a photo of my QR code and upload it. The new message asks me to scan the code.
I scan the code every few hours when I get the message, as I’m a do the right thing kinda person (let’s not mention the rubbish!) But I’ve got no idea if anything is happening when I scan the code. I don’t get a message and nothing changes in the app. I just hope it’s working (because quarantine jail!)
Speaking of quarantine jail, the South China Morning Post published an article from 4 staff who are in govt quarantine centres. While they all were thankful that these facilities are available, the conditions are very challenging to say the least. I never want to experience quarantine jail first hand!
Saturday afternoon flew by as I had quite a few video chats with friends. It was great catching up and pretending that I am living a normal life.
In between video calls I spend time cleaning the apartment. It was a bit of a novelty getting the vacuum cleaner out (because Edna Bridges). There’s not a lot of new things to take pics of, so I’ll share a room a day with you. That’ll only take a few days as the apartment is small and you’re already familiar with the gym/office/guest room and guest bathroom/ now laundry.
My bedroom is bright and light (and sunny if the bloody sun in HK decides to make an appearance). I’ve been sleeping with the blinds up, it’s great snuggling down watching the lights of HK.
Mood: great
Mental health: great
Steps: 6,022 (because resistance day)
Need to go outside: non existent
Song of the day: https://youtu.be/fNFzfwLM72c
I hope you’re having a great weekend.
Stay safe and wash your hands x
