Day 11 and all is going well

Image
I’m on to day 11 already! When I started my quarantine I thought the 14 days would drag on for eternity but that hasn’t been the case at all. It’s probably a good thing that I only have a few days of lockdown left as my geo band has become really lose. I have to be very careful when I get changed as the band could come off really easily and we won’t want that to happen (because quarantine jail). It’s strange that the band is lose as it’s made of paper with a plastic coating so it shouldn’t stretch at all. I’ve decided that I have lost weight in my hand - that’s an obvious explanation right? Speaking of losing weight, this lockdown business was going to go one way or the other in a big way - there was never going to be any middle ground. I was either going to eat my emotions and stack on weight or be really healthy and focus on fitness. Well I chose the latter (because I expanded in Singapore) and I’ve lost 1.6kg in the first 10 days of lockdown. I’ve been really challengi...

I’ve hit the half way mark!

It’s Wednesday and I’ve survived seven days in lockdown and only have seven to go (glass half full)! As I mention in my last post, life in lockdown has become normal. I’m very settled in my little bubble that is my home. To celebrate the half way mark of my incarceration, I did a ‘Lynne workout’. I may have got my ambitions mixed up with me capabilities, but I completed a 50 min cardio session. I got through it, but was a red-faced sweaty mess by the end of it. A photo will not be shared! Before my training, I did a 6.15am mini renovation of the gym. The floor rug has been rolled up and put in to storage (under the sofa bed) so I now have a more appropriate space for getting my sweat on. Minor changes but they make a big difference. My phone rang mid morning today and it was someone trying to verify my address. I started to panic and decided that this was the quarantine police coming to pay me a visit. To say I was relieved when a delivery dude knocked on my door is...

Six days in lockdown and this is starting to feel normal

Image
The last five days have been a rollercoaster of emotions, but I seemed to settle in to my lockdown routine on day six. I’ve tried to take the pressure off myself with work. I’m doing 2 full time jobs at the moment so I’m never going to be on top of everything so I shouldn’t try to be. I decided that from today, I will not eat lunch in front of the laptop. I have breaks when I’m in the office so it’s ok to take breaks at home.  While my favourite spot to work is crossed legged on the lounge room floor, I was getting quite sore from the ergonomically incorrect way I was sitting for long periods of time. I moved my office (term used loosely) to the kitchen island bench to see how that would go. While my stools look good, they’re bloody uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time, particularly as I was sore from training (because 200 squats a day). I took the Sally Crawford approach and made this my standing desk. This worked for a while but was also less than ideal. ...

Toughen up princess

Monday was a really tough day. It was much worse than Sunday. While I had loads to do, (because two jobs) and I was really busy, I was snappy and annoyed with myself and generally unsettled.  Last night I gave myself a big kick up the butt. There are loads of people in lockdown in HK (and all over the world), many in tiny apartments and many with children to try and home school and entertain. Many people in HK are relying on strangers to bring them food, thank goodness for the HK quarantine and group for rallying volunteers to do food deliveries.  I have a lovely apartment, a balcony (thank god), fabulous friends who are reaching out to me and enough money to live comfortably in lockdown. I went to bed feeling grateful for all that I have. On to the positives of the day. I was up at 6 and into a training session on the Sweat app. The app is great but I’m not sure that the round that I’m doing is pushing me hard enough. Maybe I need a longer warm up on the skipping...
